Went to see Sideways yesterday, and I thoroughly recommend it. Two things frustrated me throughout the film, but this should not spoil your enjoyment:
- What has Virginia Madsen (who plays Maya) been in before? She was lovely, btw
- There was an advert before the film started for In Good Company, starring Topher Grace of That 70s Show fame. In it, a song played, which included the lines "Random Things" and "Climbing Up On". I want that song, but can't find any reference to it on the Interweb. Can anyone help, or at least listen out for it if you see the ad.?
The former irritation is also still bugging me, as I can't see any reference in Madsen's biography that reminds me of her specifically.
The film was a wonderful combination of maleness, romance, comedy and a great story, and fully deserves IMDB's placing of 204th best film of all time.
It was good to hook up with Mr. Hopgood yesterday for a very late brunch at a little place at the top of Hudson. $9.99 for an omelette, toast, all you can drink caw-fee and juice can't be bad.
